Good news for South African gamers! The Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One will be on sale for the entire ‘Workers Day’ long-weekend.

From Friday the 1st of May 2015 through to Sunday the 3rd May 2015, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles will be discounted from their recommended retail pricing at a variety of retailers.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One consoles currently retail for between R5799 and R6300. For ‘Workers Day Weekend’, the following price reductions will apply:

  • The standard PlayStation 4 bundle, consisting of a black console and one Dual Shock 4 controller, will be discounted to R5299 (R700 saving over the recommended retail price).
  • The limited edition Xbox One Sunset Overdrive bundle, consisting of a white console, one white Xbox One controller and a copy of Sunset Overdrive, will be discounted to R5299 (R1000 saving over the recommended retail price).
  • The standard Xbox One bundle, consisting of a black console, one black Xbox One controller and a copy of either Forza Horison 2 or Halo: The Master Chief Collection, will retail for R5999 (R300 saving over the recommended retail price).

The ‘Workers Day Weekend’ specials will be available, while stocks last, at the following retailers:

  • BT Games
  • Makro
  • Incredible Connection
  • CNA
  • Dion Wired
  • Game
  • Toys R US
  • Takealot
  • Musica
  • Games4u
  • Animeworx

The ‘Workers Day Weekend’ price reductions are welcome, but not necessarily the best bargains available. Savvy shoppers may be able to buy the consoles at the ‘discounted rates’ from a variety of smaller retailers. For example, Orange sells the standard PlayStation 4 bundle for only R5267 and that is at any time of the year.

Will you be picking up a new console this weekend? If so, let us know.
